Jul 04, 2011
Canned Heat has been cancelled because one of their band members can’t get his visa - we just found this out at the end of last week. The band will be replaced by Daniel Wesley. His bands influences are Sublime, Jack Johnson, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Bob Marley.
The band’s most successful single has been “Ooh Ohh”, from the album Sing and Dance. It was Vancouver radio station CFOX’s most requested song of 2007. The Province rock music critic Tom Harrison wrote: “Sing and Dance has a prominent reggae element but there is also an unvarnished rock sound that sometimes recalls Neil Young.”
Daniel Wesley hails from the Greater Vancouver area in supernatural British Columbia, Canada. The summer of 2007 brought the buzz surrounding them from a steady hum to a definite roar. It began with an enthusiastic rise and Top 5 finish in the Fox Seeds Contest from Vancouver’s 1 rock radio station, 99.3 THE FOX. Next came the release of their sophmore album, “Sing + Dance”, which produced the outrageously popular first single “Ooo Ohh” - the most requested song of 2007 in the city of Vancouver! Their sound which is reminiscent of beach, roots, reggae and rock has earned them heavy rotation on The Fox and several weeks as the best selling album at Zulu Records. On top of those successes followed seven sold out shows, including one astounding night at the well known Richards on Richards. The culmination came with their headlining the annual Santa Fox Ball at the prestigious Commodore Ballroom, which sold out in a record five minutes! The beginning of 2008 was marked with the rerelease of “Sing + Dance” to every outlet across Canada throuh Grifter Music/Fontana North as well as back to back sold out shows at the Commodore Ballroom. The band also earned opening slot with The Trews on their cross-Canada tour. Undoubtedly this year will bring new sucesses and milestones as they set out with the Canada wide release of their album, touring and riding the wave across the country, down the West coast and overseas.
